Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air with Intel Kaby Lake processor, 8GB RAM announced

Xiaomi launched its first laptop, the Mi Notebook Air last year. Seen as a direct competition to Apple's MacBook Air, the new Mi Notebook now comes with some major performance upgrades

Adding to the Mi Notebook Air product line up, Xiaomi has now unveiled a new version of the Mi Notebook Air with a 13.3-inch screen size in China. The new Mi Notebook Air is said to be the successor of the Mi Notebook Air and is refreshed with some serious upgrades to boost the laptop’s technical output and its performance. The laptop goes live on June 18,2017, and will be available for purchase on company’s official website, though Xiaomi has not revealed the pricing as of now.

To recall, the brand introduced the first version of the Mi Notebook, way back in August 2016. Later in December, they launched the upgraded version of the Mi Notebook, called the Mi Notebook Air 4G which runs on Windows 10 operating system.

The new Mi Notebook Air comes with a seventh generation Intel Core i7 (codenamed Kaby Lake) with clock speed peaking at 3.0GHz. The Mi Notebook Air also features a new version of 4G Modem. The 7th gen Intel Core i7 processor will bring nearly 12 percent improvement in performance in comparison to the previous 6th generation Core M3.

The device is also backed by a massive 8GB DDR4 memory coupled with 128GB/256GB PCIe SSD (expandable) hard drive variants. In terms of graphic processing power, the Mi Notebook Air comes with built-in NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphic card with 2GB GDDR5 memory which is quite an improvement when compared to its previous models.

The Mi Notebook Air boasts a battery life of up to 9.5 hours of battery life on a single charge. Notably, it also comes with a new fingerprint recognition technology which adds further security measures and can be used to unlock the device, make secure online payments etc.
