Xiaomi’s much anticipated Mi Band 2 was expected to be launched earlier this month along with Mi Max but the Chinese smartphone maker had deferred the launch due to production issues. But now the company’s CEO Lei Jun had confirmed the launch date of Mi Band 2.
In a Q&A session during the Mi Drone launch recently, he revealed that the Mi Band 2 will go on sale on June 7. This means that Xiaomi Band could be launched on the same date or even earlier.
Earlier, the first look of Xiaomi’s Band 2 surfaced online, courtesy Xiaomi’s chief executive officer and founder Lei Jun. He put a teaser video of a Band2 on Weibo. The video showed that the band has an LED display that shows time and a circular physical button as well. The core seemed to be removable from the strap which seems to be made of rubber. Though not confirmed, the band is most likely to display information such as time, date, step count, heart rate and calorie count, in addition to notifications for calls and messages.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is rumored to be priced around CNY 99, which is approximately Rs 1,000. Initially, it will be launched in China but we expect its global availability soon including India.
