Last year, Xiaomi launched its Android One smartphones, the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite. Now as per a new leak surfaced online, the Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite will have “bamboo_sprout” and “cosmos_sprout” codenames respectively. To recall, the Xiaomi Mi A1 was codenamed as “tissot_sprout” and the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite were codenamed as “jasmine_sprout” and “daisy_sprout” respectively.
The folks at XDA Developers have revealed that the “bamboo_sprout” and “cosmos_sprout” are the upcoming Android One smartphones. The report reveals that Xiaomi is currently working on three Android One smartphones. The first one is said to be bamboo_sprout (Mi A3), second is cosmos_sprout (Mi A3 Lite), and the third will be a phone with codename “pyxis” (Mi 9X). The pyxis device is believed to be the successor of Mi 6X.
XDA Editor-in-Chief, Mishaal Rahman has revealed this information via a tweet. As per his tweet, all the three upcoming devices are powered by Snapdragon 7XX series. It is expected that smartphones will come with Snapdragon 700 series Chipset and almost the same specs.
Further, he reveals that these can be either Snapdragon 710 or Snapdragon 712 processors, but he admits that he is not sure. As per earlier rumours, the Mi A3 series could be featuring Snapdragon 730 mobile platform. Apart from this information, he did not reveal any specs of the Mi A3 series.
The Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite phones are powered by Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 625 SoC respectively. It is expected that the Mi A3 Lite could be featuring a less powerful Snapdragon 632 SoC. The Mi A2 Lite was launched in certain markets as Redmi 6 Pro. Hence, there might be a probability that the Mi A3 Lite could be announced in some markets as Redmi 7 Pro.
On the software front, the Mi A3 and the Mi A3 Lite are tipped to run the stock version of Android 9 Pie OS. Other expected specs of the Mi A3 series of phones are 32MP selfie camera, in-screen fingerprint sensor, among other things.
Last year, the Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite phones were announced in the July month. Now it is expected that the company might launch the Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite smartphones in the same month this year.
