Xiaomi Mi 5C announced with in-house Surge S1 SoC, full HD display and 3GB RAM

Xiaomi Mi 5c is the first smartphone powered by Xiaomi's in-house Surge S1 processor.

Xiaomi has today announced Xiaomi Mi 5c at an event in China. The Xiaomi Mi 5C comes in three colours – Gold, Black and Rose Gold. The smartphone is priced at 1499 Yuan (US$ 218) or approximately Rs 14,567 and will be available for sale in China starting from 3rd March. Xiaomi Mi 5c is the first smartphone powered by Xiaomi’s in-house Surge S1 which was also announced today.

Xiaomi Mi 5C has a 5.15-inch full (1920 x 1080 pixels) curved glass display powered by 2.2GHz Xiaomi Surge S1 64-bit Octa-Core processor with quad-core Mali-T860 GPU. It comes with 3GB with 64GB of internal storage, which is further expected to be expandable via a micro card.

This dual smartphone runs on Marshmallow operating system which is upgradable to Android 7.1 Nougat-based MIUI 8 update in March. It has 2860 mAh battery which supports 9V/2A promising full day battery life. It has afull metal unibody design and features a fingerprint sensor integrated into its home button.

TheXiaomi Mi 5C comes with a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1.25 μm pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, 6P lens 27-mm wide angle lens and an 8-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture, 27 mm wide-angle lens. On the connectivity front, the device offers VoLTE, 4.1, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), with AGS/GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio and Type C. The handset measures 144.38 x 69.68 x 7.09 mm and weighs 135 grams.
