Xiaomi today announced the launch of Mi 5 smartphone in India. The 3GB RAM model of Mi5 that has 32GB inbuilt storage will be available in India for Rs 24,999. The first flash sale will be held on April 6 and will be available exclusively on MI.com.
There are 2 other variants og Mi 5- One comes with 3GB LPDD4 RAM and 64GB storage and is available in China for CNY 2,299 (approximately Rs 24,000). Another version with 4GB LPDD4 RAM and 128GB storage was announced for China at CNY 2,999 (approximately Rs 31,500). However Xiaomi has not launched these two variants in India as of now.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 features a 5.15 inch display that has full HD resolution. It is powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor, along with Adreno 530 graphics processor, dual SIM, a fingerprint scanner and Android Marshmallow operating system. The phone has a 16 megapixel rear camera that has Sony IMX298 sensor, 6P lens, phase detection auto focus feature, LED flash light support, optical image stabilization and sapphire glass protection for lens. The rear camera can record 4K videos. For selfies, the Mi 5 offers a 4 megapixel front camera.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is fuelled by a 3000 mAh battery and comes with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. It has a USB Type C port too. Other than that, the Mi 5 offers WiFi (a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC. The handset measures 144.5×69.2×7.25mm and weighs 129 grams.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 also has UFS 2.0 storage which is said to offer 87 per cent faster read write speed than eMMC 5.0 storage which is found in other smartphones. The Mi 5 comes with 4G+ (CAT 12 LTE modem) technology that can offer up to 600 Mbps speed. It also supports VoLTE.
