China-based smartphone maker Xiaomi has announced 100W Fast charging technology and says that it can charge phones from 0 to 100 percent in just 17 minutes. The new fast-charging tech is called “Super Charge Turbo.”
Currently, Oppo’s SuperVOOC is the fastest charging technology available in the market for smartphones, which charges the device at 50W speeds at 10V/5A. With this, Xiaomi becomes the first ever phone company to bring a 100W fast charging technology.
Oppo’s SuperVOOC is said to charge a 3,730mAh battery in 35 minutes. Xiaomi has claimed that it’s Super Charge Turbo technology can charge a 4,000mAh battery in just 17 minutes.
The specific details of Super Charge Turbo are yet to be revealed by the company. Meanwhile, Lin Bin, President and co-founder of Xiaomi, hasshared a video of its latest fast charging technology. He revealed in the post that the company’s engineers have successfully tested this technology.
In the same video, Xiaomi compares the 100W fast charging technology with Oppo’s 50W fast charging tech. While the Xiaomi charger charges the phone from 0 to 100 percent in just 17 minutes, the Oppo charger manages to charge around 65 percent at the same time.
Meanwhile, Redmi President Lu Weibing has also revealed that Redmi will be the first one to mass produce 100W Xiaomi fast charger, but he has not provided any timeline. So, it might be a possibility that the next Redmi phone may come packed with Xiaomi’s 100W fast charging technology.
