The Chinese handset manufacturer Xiaomi today launched the Amazfit smartwatch in China for approximately INR 8,000 and will be available for sale Wednesday onwards.
Though the company claims that Amazfit is its first smartwatch, Xiaomi has earlier introduced a kid fashioned smartwatch. Xiaomi’s Amazfit comes with a 28nm GPS sensor making it world’s first smartwatch to have this sensor. Moreover, it is also IP67 certified making it dust and water resistant. Upfront, it sports a 1.34-inch circular display with 300×300 pixel resolution and is surrounded by a ceramic bezel which company claims to be scratch resistant. The entire smartwatch is powered by a 1.2 GHz processor with 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
At the back, the Amazfit boasts a heart rate sensor enabling continuous tracking. You get a 22nm Band which is user replaceable. Compnay claims that the samrtwatch can work flawlessly with any Android device given the MiFit App is installed on it.
Regarding the battery, the new smartwatch from Xiaomi has a 200mAh battery which company claims can last up to 5 days. However, if GPS is enabled then the battery life squeeze down to 30 hours. Whereas if the only pedometer is used, the battery can last up to 11.6 days.
There has been no information as to when Amazfit will be launched in India. Nonetheless, it will be quite interesting to see how this new addition to the wearables market will stand against competition such as Fitbit.
