World’s 1st smartphone with 4 GB RAM, Asus Zenfone 2 coming to India

With 4 GB RAM and Intel's quad core processor, it is said to be seven times faster than its predecessor.

Asus has confirmed the launch of its latest sensation, the Zenfone 2, in India. Remember, the Zenfone 2 is the first smartphone to have huge 4 GB RAM!

“Asus to yet again disrupt the Indian Smartphone market soon with Zenfone 2. Taking on Samsung S6 and Apple’s recent launches, the device features 2.3GHz Intel Atom processor with 4GB RAM,” an Asus said in a press note issued today.

Apparently, taking a dig at Xiaomi and the likes who sell their phones via flash sales, the note added, “No waiting for flash sales or invitations as Zenfone is for all!”

However, the note speaks nothing about the price of Zenfone 2 which is endowed with a powerful 2.3 Ghz, Intel Atom Z3580 processor, and this with the help of 4 GB RAM said to make it seven time faster than its predecessor. There is another model with 1.8 Ghz Intel Atom Z3560 quad core processor and 2 GB RAM but the Asus India’s press note says nothing about that so perhaps only the 4 GB version will be released in India.

The Zenfone 2 weighs 170 grams and measures 77.2 x 152.5 x 3.9 ~ 10.9 mm (WxDxH). It comes in 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB storage versions. There is a micro SD card slot for a 64 GB card as well. The phone has a 5.5 inch display with full HD resolution. This IPS panel also has 3 protection.

The Asus Zenfone 2 offers a 13 rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. As per the product page, both the cameras are of fixed focus in nature which seems to be a typo (the rear camera is in all likelyhood an auto focus unit). The handset has a 3000 battery.

Besides, the Zenfone 2 has two slots and said to be compatible with networks. Also it offers WiFi (a/b/g/n/ac), 4.0, micro USB port, and NFC for connectivity. It has for navigation.

The 5.0 (Lollipop) based Asus Zenfone 2 comes in Black, White, Red, Gray and Gold colours.
