Update: Maktechblog, a tech blog, while digging into the code of WhatsApp for iPhone has found out strings that suggest that “Call via Skype” feature is in the making along with other features call hold, ‘call mute, call back and so on.
The site further adds that, “We have also found icons for Driving mode. There are not much details about this feature but Driving Mode in WhatsApp might work like Do not Disturb feature. It might also happen that after enabling Driving Mode, WhatsApp will read out the messages and calls, so that you can concentrate on your driving.”
WhatsApp, chief executive officer, Jan Koum, in October had said the voice calling feature in world’s most popular Messaging was in the making and if latest reports are to be believed it will be a reality soon.
According to AndroidWorld.nl which has got hold of screenshots of WhatsApps rumoured voice calling feature , voice functionality may be announced soon. The site further adds WhatsApp is distributed through its website and Google Play store for Android devices. The web version is updated frequently and often contains hidden features that the company plans on adding to app. It is this version that has revealed the voice calling functionality features has been found.
Whenever WhatsApp makes this feature available to its users other App players who offer voice service like Skype, WeChat and Viber will have to gear up for fierce competition.
