WhatsApp has been spotted working on a new feature for its popular Messaging application. The company is reported to be developing a Boomerang feature that will allow users to loop a video.
As per a report by WABetaInfo, the new feature is under development in the last few weeks. The Boomerang feature is not available yet and there are no details when it will be released for its users. Furthermore, the report highlights that the feature will be first available to iOS devices and it will then roll out to the Android ecosystem.
The new feature will be available in Video Type panel, which currently allows the user to convert a video into a GIF. The report says that when the video is less than 7 seconds, it can be used to create a boomerang and one can send it to contacts and can also upload it as a status update. The Boomerang feature is currently available on Instagram, where users can create a looping video.
Previously, the company rolled out Frequently Forward message label in India. With this feature, users will be able to recognise if a message is forwarded more than 5 times. The Frequently Forward message label will appear on the message it is forwarded more than 5 times.
Furthermore, the company has also added double arrow just above to message to help understand user that the message has been forwarded many times. WhatsApp, in its FAQ page, revealed, “when a message is forwarded from one user to another user more than five times, this is indicated with a double arrow icon. The number of times a message has been forwarded is end-to-end encrypted.” The new feature is an extension to the forwarded label that was introduced last year. The feature was spotted in Beta in March this year.
