This feature lets users to select custom options for tones, pop-up notification, enable or disable vibrations, notification light colours and call notification tone. For example, if you want to set a specific ringtone for a contact, you can select any song or tone from your music gallery. And you know which particular person from your contact list is calling or sending message even without looking at your smartphone.

In addition, users now have the option to mute notifications for individual chats too. Earlier this option was available to groups chats only, but the new update brings this feature for individual chats also.

The new update also lowers data consumption in WhatsApp calls. For this purpose WhatsApp has added a new option in Settings under Chats and Calls menu. This feature would be best used in areas with limited connectivity issues.
