Vimeo launches app for Android, Kindle Fire and Windows Phone

Users can download Vimeo for free and they will be able to run it on any device which runs on Gingerbread or above.

Vimeo, a video viewing which is already there on the iOS, is now coming to Android, Kindle Fire and Windows Phone. The apps allow users to like, share and comment on the videos, conduct search and of course watch their videos, just the way users do it on the website of Vimeo.

Users can download Vimeo for free and they will be able to run it on any device which runs on Gingerbread or above. The stock sharing options of are also there, so they will be able to share videos through different social networks. To watch a video on the Vimeo app, users do not need to log in but if they do so, they get all the features such as commenting, saving and accessing Watch Later list as well.

The iOS version of the app will be getting an update in the later part of January, which will bring a new design for iPhone version while optimising it for the iPad.

Commenting on the development, Joe Schmitt, lead mobile developer at Vimeo said, “With mobile devices making up approximately 15 per cent of our site traffic, we recognise the importance of expanding our platforms to allow people to access Vimeo from as many devices as possible.”
