One of the most talked about changes in the iPhone 7 was the omission of 3.5mm Headphone jack. As soon as it was official, Internet was flooded with opinions from different YouTubers, Technology freaks and any other normal consumer. While some readily accepted the fact, others had tough time adjusting with it. Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus comes with lightning earphones. Apple has also given an option of wireless airpods which costs $159.
Interestingly, a YouTube channel named TechRax released a video explaining how to drill the headphone jack in the new iPhones. Well, obviously this was not to be done in real and was just another hoax video. However, some people actually took it seriously and tried to drill a hole where the headphone jack use to be in previous iPhones. Ofcourse, they failed and some of them even damaged their smartphone.
“I tried this and ended up with display destruction and it not working… I really committed the biggest mistake of my life by watching this video,” commented one person.
Another victim of the prank video wrote, “A friend of mine told me it worked for him, but my iPhone won’t turn on after I drilled the hole for the jack. I checked and it was the 3.5mm drill, so I made no mistake there! What happened? Any of you have the same problem?”
There was another person who commented advising one of the failed user to soak the iPhone in soap water to make it work which in reality would further damage the phone as both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are IP67 certified which is dust and water resistance and not waterproof.
Ofcourse, this is not the first time that people fell for such prank videos. YouTube is filled with many such prank videos and many people who are desperately looking for a way out fall prey to such guides. So next time you are watching some guide videos on YouTube, follow caution and don’t do anything blindly.
