Taiwanese handset maker, HTC is reportedly making two Nexus smartphones for Google which will be launched this year. Popular leakster Evan Blass, who runs the Twitter account @evleaks, has revealed that the next two Nexus devices will be powered by Android N operating system and HTC is manufacturing the devices and are internally being called as the M1 and S1.
Blass tweeted, “HTC is building a pair of Android N devices for Google internally dubbed M1 and S1 #nexus.”
Previous rumors suggest that one device will come with 5-inch display, while the other will come with a 5.5-inch screen.
As per AndroidPolice, the Nexus devices called M1 and S1 are codenamed Marlin and Sailfish, following Google trend of using fish names for all Nexus names like Shamu for the Nexus 6, Angler for Nexus 6P, bullhead for the Nexus 5X, Hammerhead for Nexus 5 and so on.
Meanwhile, a device named “Google Nexus 6P†has also been spotted in the Geekbench Benchmarking website. As per the listing the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and the motherboard is listed as “marlin”. The handset is based on the Android N operating system and has 4 GB RAM. The benchmarking website does not reveal anything apart from this.
Last year, two Google Nexus smartphones were launched, Huawei made Nexus 6P and LG made Nexus 5X. The 16 GB and 32 GB variants of Nexus 5X were launched in India for Rs 31,900 and Rs 35,900 respectively while the Nexus 6P came with a price tag of Rs 39,999 for the 32GB variant and Rs 42,999 for the 64GB variant.
To recall, Huawei made Nexus 6P has a 5.7-inch Quad HD AMOLED Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset which has a 64-bit 2.0 GHz octa-core processor with Adreno 430GPU along with 3GB of RAM. The device is powered by a 3,450mAh battery. It features a 12.3 megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 Aperture and large 1.55 μM pixels and an 8 megapixel front camera with 1.4 μM pixel sensor.
On the other hand, LG made Nexus 5X comes with a 5.2-inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset which has a 64-bit 1.8GHz hexa-core processor with Adreno 418 GPU. It has 2GB RAM. It will be available in two variants 16GB and 32GB. It has a 2,700mAh battery. The LG Nexus 5X has a 12.3 megapixel main camera with f/2.0 lens, 1.55 μM pixels, laser autofocus, and 4K video capture ability. For selfies, it has a 5 megapixel front camera.
