If you reside in Delhi-NCR and use Uber pretty often, here is something which you will not want to know. Starting last week, the famous cab aggregator service, Uber has increased the prices of ‘UberGo’ by up to 15 percent in Delhi-NCR.
A spokesperson for the company said to PTI, “starting January 5, 2017, we have made some changes to our pricing structure in Delhi NCR in order to serve the city better.”
To put this in numbers, Uber will now charge Rs 1.5 per minute instead of Re 1. Not only this, the company has also increased the ride timing charges for UberPOOL and UberX. If you are not aware, Uber charges Rs 6 per km for up to 20 km and post that, Rs 12 per km with a minimum fare of Rs 60 in case you board in a UberGo.
As a result of this hike, users are expected to experience about 10-15 percent of an increase in the overall fare. Recently, the company also released a statement claiming that it’s main focus for this year (2017) will be on UberPOOL. The company has also rolled out updates to promote UberPOOL aimed at ‘getting more people in fewer cars’ to address increasing congestion and pollution in Indian cities.
