Toyota has announced that it will launch its new sedan, the Yaris, in India on this May 18.
The entry level J variant of the car will cost Rs 8.75 lakh while the top end VX will be priced at Rs 14.07 lakh. Toyota has also started taking bookings for the car for a token amount of Rs 50,000.
The Yaris comes with a 1497cc 1.5-litre VVT-i, 4 cylinder petrol engine which will generate 109 bhp of power at 6,000 rpm with peak torque of 140 Nm at 4,200 rpm. It has a 6-speed manual and 7-step CVT (automatic) gearbox, with the claimed mileage of 21 kmpl. Currently, the sedan is only available in the petrol engine variant, but later the brand is expected to offer a 1.4-liter diesel trim as well.
As far as safety is concerned, the Yaris comes with seven SRS airbags in all variants, which will include side airbags, Curtain Shield Airbags (CSA) and knee airbag. Further, it will have Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force) distribution, Tyre-Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Vehicle Stability Control, Front & Rear Parking Sensors, All 4-Wheel Disc Brakes.
The car will ride on the 16-inch wheels and at the front, it will have the daytime running LED headlights with Fox light at the bottom. Inside the cabin, the steering wheel will have mounted audio controls and auto air-conditioning with the roof mounted air vents with ambient illumination for rear passengers.
It will have a High Solar Energy-Absorbing (HSEA), IR cut, Acoustic and Vibration Control Glass for Windshield and Doors for the quieter cabin. It gets a 4.2-inch TFT multi-information display and 7-inch touch infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, GPS and Navigation.
As far as dimensions are concerned, the Yaris measures 4,425mm in length, 1,730mm in width and 1,475mm in height with the wheelbase of 2,550mm.
