Famous GPS based navigation service, TomTom has now been launched on Android. The App is already available for iOS operating system based devices.
Several versions of the TomTom app is now available for various regions of the world that includes Western Europe, US, Canada, Africa and South East Asia. However, most of the versions carry a hefty price tag of around Rs 2,700.
The app, for this hefty price, though claims to offer premium features. Like free lifetime maps, 2D/3D driving view, voice instructions, fast route recalculation, automatic day and night mode, etc.
Since, the map data gets stored on the phone itself one does not need cellular or internet connectivity to access maps. It is currently available for handsets with Android 2.2 and above. It has also a huge data size of around 320 MB.
It would be interesting to see the success of this app since there are many free and even paid apps which costs quite less than this TomTom app but offer more or less the same features.
