According to Samsung Hub, the challenge for iPod has finally arrived in the shape of a commercial from Samsung.
Samsung has released a video of a portable media player, Galaxy Player 50, which belongs to the same family of Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab, just like iPhone and iPad. Microsoft’s Zune, was the previous challenger to Apple’s iPod in the same category.
Zune fell short of the task it took upon itself. Despite the criticism (about fragmentation) from the competitors, Google’s Android has been doing extremely well in the market, despite Blackberry and iOS devices breathing down its neck.
The very reason that could have been its weakness, the presence of Android on several smartphones in the market is proving its biggest USP. The Samsung Galaxy Player 50 is the first Android device of this kind, though many more similar such devices may well be on their way. Google’s success in the smartphone market may easily rub off on other devices as well.
The Samsung Galaxy Player 50 is also different because all the official Google apps such as YouTube, Google Maps, and Gmail are supported on it. Compared to iPod, the Samsung Galaxy Player 50 is slightly thicker.
