Soon after announcing price cut for its CDMA data services, Tata Docomo has cut the data tariff for its 3G services.
The price cut is massive, around 90 per cent, given that single day pack costs less than half and offers five times more data compared to earlier.
One day pack which was earlier available for Rs 11 and offered 10 MB data now costs Rs 5 and offers 50MB data; similarly three day validity pack used to cost Rs 39 offering just 50 MB now offers 150 MB for just Rs 19; and a new seven day pack costing Rs 39 offers 150 MB too.
Tariffs of monthly data packs has also seen the reduction as 1GB pack for 30 days now costs Rs 250, much in line with the new norm in the industry as against earlier pricing of Rs 601, and 2GB pack costs Rs 450 as against Rs 750 earlier.
Apart from reducing tariff Tata Docomo has also introduced two new packs – A Rs 90 pack valid for 30 days offering 300 MB and a Rs 351 pack valid for 30 days offering 1.5GB.
Sadly, the unbundled usage continues to be charged at 10 paisa per 10 KB compared to the industry norm of 3 paisa per 10KB. If fact some operators like RCom and MTS have reduced it to 20 paise to Rs 1 per MB).
Another problem with the tariff structure is lack of unlimited plans and lack of data plans- 5 GB, 10GB) – for heavy users which all the other major operators are offering.
