India’s Swipe has announced the launch of a smartphone designed especially for kids. Appropriately named as Swipe Junior, the phone has a price tag of Rs 5,999.
The Swipe Junior has a 4.5 inch display, a 2 Megapixel rear camera, 0.3 megapixel front camera, 1.3 GHz dual core processor, 512 MB RAM, 4GB ROM, 3G connectivity, Android KitKat 4.4 operating system, 1900 mAh battery, WiFi and Bluetooth. It has one SIM slot.
Launched in pink and blue colours, the handset is said to be shock proof and durable. The phone allows parents to keep a tab on its contact list and to limit internet browsing, apps and game usage. It has a geo-positioning feature as well that allows parents to track their kids movement. Besides, it has a customised UI and few preloaded apps.
Swipe, back in 2013, had launched its Swipe Junior tablet with almost the same features but with a bigger 7 inch display and Android Jelly Bean operating system.
