Spotify, at its ‘Stream On’ event, has announced an entirely revamped for its that is highly inspired from the new ‘scrolling’ culture, thanks to Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and TikTok. The new UI is claimed to be a dynamic mobile interface built for deeper discovery and more meaningful connections between artists and fans. Apart from this, a set of new features inside Spotify has also been revealed.

Spotify’ Redesigned UI

The redesigned UI of the Spotify app aims to be creative and interactive, alongside having advanced recommendations and a spotlight on visual canvases. With the new update, whenever you open up Home on the Spotify app, you’ll find personalized, curated previews of the songs, podcasts, and audiobooks.

The music feed now contains personalized recommendations for singles, albums, and playlists. At the top of the feed, you’ll see some selected mixes you might like. Moreover, Canvases (short clips from the video of the song) will also accompany these previews if available.

Next, we get the podcast feed which contains personalized recommendations for new and familiar episodes and shows. At the top of the feed, you’ll have quick access to your shows. For podcasts, real-time transcriptions allow you to preview an episode or chapter even with the sound off. The audiobooks feed contains personalized audiobook recommendations, similar to Music and Podcast Feeds.

After you have previewed the content, you can save, share, or download them with just a tap. You can press Play to listen to a track, album, playlist, or episode from the start. Or, if you want to listen to other related content, you can tap on a recommendation that will take you to the playlist, album, or single to explore audio that may interest you.

The new UI of Spotify app is now beginning to roll out to Premium and Free users globally across and Android. Music and podcast previews are available in all markets where podcasts are available globally. Audiobooks previews are currently available in the U.S., the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

Spotify Smart Shuffle

Spotify has also unveiled another new feature called Smart Shuffle. This feature provides personalized recommendations that “perfectly match the vibe of an original user-generated playlist”, says the company. This means that Spotify will automatically play songs it thinks you will like and match your taste.

As soon as you turn on Smart Shuffle, you’ll be able to start listening to your playlist mixed with new recommendations. For a playlist with more than 15 songs, Spotify will recommend one song for every three tracks. A Sparkle will appear next to the song that has been recommended to you. If you don’t like a recommendation, just tap the minus button on the Now Playing View so that Spotify can know what you like and what you don’t.

Then there’s also Auto-play for Podcasts so that when a podcast ends, another relevant episode that fits your taste will automatically play. In related news to Spotify, the service recently debuted another new feature called AI DJ. The DJ is a personalized AI guide that knows you and your music taste so well that it can choose what to play for you.
