Spotify now available on Google Assistant in India

Spotify users can ask Google Assistant to play music.

Spotify has announced that it is integrating with Google Assistant in India. With this, Spotify users can ask Google Assistant to play music on Spotify.

This feature is available for both free and premium customers of Spotify on all supported devices including Google Home smart speakers, TV and Chromecast. Furthermore, Spotify is also integrated with Google Maps on smartphones to ensure that drivers don’t have to switch between two apps to navigate and to play their favourite tracks.

In order to activate this feature, users need to download and install the Google Home application. Open the app and tap on Settings. Users then need to select Accounts and click Spotify. You will be directed to link accounts settings. Select Link Accounts and then Log in to Spotify using your username and password. The account will be linked to the Google Home.

Users can then ask Google Assistant to play music by saying, “Ok Google, play ‘choice of song name’ from Spotify’. The feature comes after Spotify announced integration with PlayStation Music on PS3 and PS4 in India earlier this month.

Previously, the company introduced Spotify Lite application in India. The app is only 10MB in size and it is quite quick to install and operate. The company says that one can monitor cache data and clear it with a single tap. The Lite version also allows to set data limit and users will get a notification when he/she reaches the pre-defined data limit. The app is compatible with any device running Android version 4.3 or higher.

The working of the application is similar to the main app. The company revealed that the application is available in 36 countries including India, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, Costa Rica and more.
