Spice Mobility (S Mobility), which has changed its focus from low end feature phones to smartphones, is set to launch a new dual SIM Android handset with 3.5 inch screen in the next couple of days.
While talking to The Mobile Indian, Payal Gaba, general manager of marketing at Spice Mobiles, said, “We are going to launch Mi350 Android phone in the Indian market within next two-three days. This will be India’s first dual GSM SIM Android handset with 3G capability. It will also have a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen and a 5 Megapixel camera.”
She added, “We are pricing it close to Rs 9,000 and the phone will be based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.”
Spice Mi350 is already available in the Malaysian market with the same name, and is part of the portfolio of CSL, which is a Spice group company. However, in that country the phone is based on Android 2.2 Froyo and comes with a 600 MHz processor.
Other features of the phone include GPS, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, and 5 megapixel Autofocus camera. Other Android essentials like a gravity sensor and Proximity Sensor are also present.
The 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen displays 480 x 320 pixel Resolution or HVGA quality, and is powered by a Qualcomm 600 MHz processor, 512 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM.
Payal also said that Spice will be aggressive in launching Android devices in the next couple of months. We will bring you all the details in the next couple of days.
Currently Spice has another dual SIM Android phone – Mi270, but it does not have 3G capability. The only other dual SIM Android phone in India is Motorola Milestone XT800 which is a CDMA+GSM dual SIM high end phone that costs nearly Rs 19,000.
