Spice Mobile, now called S Mobility, has launched its first Android tablet in India, known as MiTab. This 7 inch tablet is priced competitively at Rs 12,990, putting it directly in competition with Reliance 3G Tab.
MiTab’s 7 inch screen uses capacitive touch technology offering an 800 x 480 Resolution and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MHz Turbo processor.
While all the other features are more or less similar to the Reliance 3G Tab, it has an older Android 2.2 version compared to the Android 2.3 on Reliance.
MiTab (Mi-720) supports HTML browsing and Adobe flash player. It has built-in 3G, WiFi (with Hotspot function) GPS and Bluetooth as well. A 2 Megapixel camera is at rear and a VGA at the front for video calling.
Other features include voice call for phone calls from tablet by pairing a Bluetooth headset or with the inbuilt loud speaker. MiTab supports up to 32 GB expandable memory which allows you to save multiple files.
Commenting on the launch, chairman of S Mobility BK Modi said, “Mobile Internet is a revolution, a new trend which comes from the customers’ connectivity need to be always on. Tablets play an important part in this revolution. Tablets may very well be the 1st PC for most of the Indians. There has been a growing demand for ‘tabs’ which can do so much ranging from multimedia to social networking to even your official work.”
The device will be available across the country through more than 50,000 retail points including the 750+ Spice HotSpot retail network and also online through Spice’s online store www.saholic.com.
