Sony India today announced its “X” series smartphones – Xperia X and Xperia XA – for the Indian market. The Sony Xperia X is priced at Rs 48,990 while for Xperia XA you have to shell out Rs 20,990. Pre-booking of Xperia X can be done at all authorized Sony mobile dealers and online exclusively on Amazon from 4 pm onwards on 30th May, and its sale will start from June 6. The Xperia XA will be available from the third week of June.
Sony Xperia X Performance which too was announced along with the Xperia X and XA, however, will not be launched in India. Sony will also reveal the launch date and price of another X series smartphone, Xperia XA Ultra, later.
As per Sony, Xperia X buyers will get 3 months subscription of Sony LIV worth Rs 299 for free, 3 months subscription of Hungama Play worth Rs 750 for free, Kindle e-book worth Rs, 1,000 for free, Gameloft and Modern Combat full HD games with free credits worth Rs 780.
The Sony Xperia X has a 5 inch full HD display and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 64 bit octa core Processor and 3 GB RAM. This dual SIM phone has 64 GB of internal storage as well as a micro SD card slot that can hold a card of up to 200 GB capacity. Running on Android Marshmallow, the Xperia X comes with a 2620 mAh battery that claims to offer up to two days of battery life.
The Sony Xperia X, which measures 143 x 69 x 7.7mm, weighs 152 grams. Its 23 Megapixel rear camera has 1/2.3†Exmor RS sensor, 24 mm wide angle G Lens and F2.0 aperture. This camera offers auto focus, 5x zoom facility and full HD video recording ability. The Xperia X has a 13 megapixel camera in its front for selfies. The front camera has 1/3” Exmor RS for mobile sensor, F2.0 Aperture and 22 mm wide angle lens. Like the rear camera, the front camera too has video stabilization feature as well as auto mode and video recording feature.
For connectivity, the Sony Xperia X has LTE, WiFi, Miracast, Bluetooth 4.2, DLNA, NFC and GPS with GLONASS and A-GNSS. It has Digital noise cancelling feature and comes with Clear Audio+, S Force Front sound, and DSEE HX audio technologies.
Sony elaborating the USP of the new Xperia smartphones said in a statement, “Predicting the unexpected is difficult, but not impossible – the next generation Xperia camera takes spontaneous capture to another level allowing you to shoot in sharp focus, even for spur-of-the-moment shots. The quick camera makes it easier to capture split-second scenes. Start-up is twice as fast and shots are captured at blink-of-an-eye speed, so you can go from stand-by to capture in approximately 0.61 seconds.”
The Statement further added, “The all-new Predictive Hybrid Autofocus in Xperia X is developed in close collaboration with Sony’s camera engineers; it lets you choose your subject and then predicts its motion, so you can capture the action in perfect focus, free from blur.”
The Sony Xperia XA has 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of inbuilt memory, 200 GB expandable storage slot, Android Marshmallow operating system, Mediatek Helio P10 64 bit octa core processor, a 2300 mAh battery promising up to two days of battery life, and a 5 inch HD display.
The Sony Xperia XA has a 13 megapixel rear camera that is armed with Exmor RS sensor, Hybrid auto focus and 5x zoom feature. It has an 8 megapixel snapper in the front which can capture images in low light and too in wide angle . The Sony Xperia XA has FM radio, 4G connectivity and a host of sound enhancement technologies like Clear Audio+ and X Loud.
