Just recently, there were reports hinting that Sony is testing Android Nougat on one of the top-tier phones from the Xperia lineup. The company recently launched its Beta Testing Programme in which the first device to taste Nougat was Xperia X Performance. As of today, Sony has begun the official Android 7.0 Nougat roll out for Xperia X Performance. Note that this update is only said to be limited to model numbers F8131 and F8132. Further, the company didn’t reveal the selected regions where the update will be available.
Nevertheless, with the new update comes the all new notification panel layout, split-screen option, doze on the go etc. Further, this update is also said to bring in Manual Shutter Speed control, Manual ISO control, touch sensitivity improvements, fix for auto-rotation bug etc. The update comes with the name 39.2.A.0.248 and weighs at 1338 MB. Moreover, this update is an OTA (Over-The-Air) update, so it can take some time to reach all the users.
Sony Xperia X Performance was first showcased at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2016) back in February 2016 after which it was officially launched in various regions across the globe. Unfortunately, the device never came to India and we don’t expect the company to launch it as well.
However, this update surely means that Sony is working hard to roll out timely update for its devices. We are pretty sure that next in line devices such as Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra will soon get the update.
Just to sum up, Sony Xperia X Performance comes with a 5-inch FHD display. On the inside, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Chipset coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage with microSD card support up to 200GB. For photography, the device features a 23-megapixel rear and 13-megapixel of front camera. Lastly for the juice, there is a 2700mAh non-removable battery.
