After launching many PlayStation certified devices, Sony Mobile is now reportedly working to bring full wireless support for the DualShock 3 game controller to its Xperia smartphones.
The Xperia Blog posted images of the menu options to connect the DualShock 3 controller in one of the upcoming Xperia smartphones. This will be a native support – that is without any middleware or need to install any application. After connecting the game controller with the Xperia smartphone, users can enjoy the PlayStation certified games on the smartphone by using the controller to perform the different control actions.
The upcoming Sony Xperia SP smartphone will have a special option in the settings menu. The PlayStation DualShock 3 game controller needs to be connected with the Xperia device using USB on-the-go cable for the first time to enable physical pairing. Once both are paired, the game controller can be connected with the Xperia SP smartphone via Bluetooth by pressing the PlayStation button.
With that, the game controller can be used as a physical controller for the games on the Xperia smartphones. As of now, there is no clarity on whether the PlayStation DualShock 3 game controller pairing support will be enabled for 2013 Xperia smartphones via update or not.
