Sony UK has quietly announced that its Tablet S and Tablet P would be getting Android 4.0 in near future. Earlier this month, Sony had launched the new Android 3.x Honeycomb based dual-screen Tablet S for 29,990 and Tablet P for Rs 36,990.
The Tablet S has a 9.4-inch display sporting 1280×800 pixel resolution and houses a powerful dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 mobile processor coupled with 1 GB RAM inside. With a charming new design, the Sony Tablet S certainly looks worth trying out but is bit late to the party.
Sony Tablet P is a unique dual-screen display bearing Clamshell tablet. Sporting two 5.5-inch (1024×480) touchscreen display, this tablet has applications optimised to be used with the dual-screens. Both tablets run Android 3.x Honeycomb OS and feature 0.3 Megapixel VGA front facing camera with a 5-megapixel camera at the back.
Sony UK community manager, Lee, posted on the discussion forums that the Android 4.0 ICS update has been confirmed for both the tablets. Details including the time of arrival would be shared in due course of time.
Sony Ericsson’s Xperia 2011 released smartphones are getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update in March end and first week of April. We may presume that the Android 4.0 ICS update for the Sony Tablet S and Tablet P would be rolled out during the same period of couple of weeks after that.
