As per the latest reports from Gameblog (French) and Vice Gaming, Sony Entertainment is all set to reveal the earlier hinted significant upgrade to the PlayStation 4 gaming console. The new PS4 Neo is tipped to launch at the upcoming official PlayStation Meeting in New York City on September 7.
With the PS4 and PlayStation Vita launched at the same event previously, the rumors about the new PS4 Neo launching in this year’s PlayStation meeting makes sense. The initial rumors came out in the Game Developers Conference, back in March 2016.
Talking about the improvements, the new PS4 Neo is expected to support higher-fidelity visuals to the 4K resolution standard, Hence, enhancing both gaming and media playback experience. Collecting the previous revealed rumors, the gaming machine is also touted to come with 8GB RAM and GPU clocked at 911 MHz which will help improve performance by 2.3 times. Keeping in mind the specifications, the PS4 Neo is likely to be priced higher than its rival Xbox One S from Microsoft. This seems quite fair in the sense that the PS4 Neo will come with better GPU and performance improvements.
With Microsoft recently launching an improved variant of Xbox, the Xbox One S, Gaming enthusiasts will soon again have a choice to either go with the Xbox or the new PS4. Microsoft and Nintendo are both working on the next version of gaming consoles to be launched next year. These versions are likely to be a design as well as a hardware overhaul.
Sony recently announced its own version of home virtual reality kit, PlayStation VR and the new PS4 Neo could be the perfect machine to power the virtual reality kit. For that to happen, the Neo should be available for sale by Fall 2016.
