Sony PS4 Neo and PS4 Slim gaming consoles will be launched at an event on September 7 in New York, according to reports.
The first images of the upcoming console PS4 Slim were leaked by ‘Shortman82’ on Twitter. Later on it was seconded by Euro Gamer who claimed to have seen the device at Shortman82’s place. Previously, only PS4 was expected to be launched.
The PS4 Neo is expected to come with 8-core CPU clocked at 2.1GHz with an extended Bandwidth of 218GB/s. It will include 8GB of memory with GPU ranging from 18 CUs (Computer Units) to 36 CUs. Interestingly, the Neo is also likely to offer 4.14 TFLOPS of computing power.
Not only this, the PS4 Neo is also expected to support 4K gaming with PSVR (Play Station Virtual Reality) support. For more power and efficiency, it is also rumoured that the Neo will have upgraded AMD APUs.
Also, Shortman82 recently tweeted that both the variants will support 5 GHz WiFi making it an ultimate gaming machine for gamers who play a lot over WiFi. Though he only has access to the PS4 Slim, it is likely that the Neo will also come with 5GHz WiFi support.
Shortman82 tweeted: “The frequencies used by the wireless networking feature of this product are the 2.4GHz/5GHz ranges,” reads the PS4 Slim manual posted by Twitter user shortman82. And for those asking. Yes the slim has B/G/N/AC wifi,”
Last week, reports claimed that the upcoming Slim version of PS4 will have matte finish with Power & Eject buttons on the left. While the overall designed looked same, the optical out port was missing which means certain headphones will no longer be compatible with the device. The Slim version is expected to come in 500GB or 1TB storage models.
