Sony PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim announced

While the PS4 Slim is essentially the same as PS4, the new PS4 Pro certainly comes with advanced specs battling directly against Xbox One S.

Sony has finally announced the new version of the PS4 which is named as PS4 Pro and not PS4 Neo as earlier rumoured. As per the announcement, the new PS4 is twice powerful in terms of and will use AMD’s Polaris architecture.

Further, PS4 Pro will come with 1TB hard drive and comes with boosted clock rate. Mark Cerny, PS4 architect showcased a lot of games such as Spider-Man, For Honor, Horizon Zero Dawn, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Watch Dogs 2, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided while he boasted about some other specifications of the console such as higher resolution, compatibility etc. Also, the Pro will sometimes even offer improved framerate performance for those with low end TVs. Another thing which Sony pointed out was the compatibility i.e. all the PS4 games will be compatible with the new PS4 Pro and games developed by third party studios will also be compatible.

Post announcement, Microsoft responded to Sony’s claims about PS4 Pro being better than the Xbos One S. Microsoft said in a statement: “At Xbox, our goal is to put gamers at the centre of everything we do. The new hardware available now and next year was designed with that in mind to give gamers a choice in how they play.

“Starting at £249, Xbox One S is the only console available today with built-in Blu-ray – a value price compared to 4K Blu-ray players. It also offers 4K video streaming plus HDR for video and gaming.”

Andrew House, the head of Sony Interactive Entertainment told to Guardian: “Our feeling is that while physical media continues to be a big part of the games business, we see a trend on video towards streaming, certainly with our user base, it’s the second biggest use case for people’s time on the system so we place more emphasis on that area.”

PS4 Pro is all set to enter the market from November 10 onwards at a price of $399 which is roughly Rs 26,500. Apart from the PS4 Pro, Sony also announced PS4 slim which is essentially the same hardware packed in a smaller and slimmer design case.
