Sony launches Xperia P, U and Sola smartphones in India

All the three smartphones are based on Android operating system and are high end smartphones of Sony.

Sony has today launched three new smartphones in India that includes Xperia P, Xperia U and Xperia Sola in an event in Bangalore and Kolkata. All the three smartphones are based on operating system.

Sony Xperia Sola is the first ever Android smartphone from Sony’s stable to feature a floating touch display. The floating touch display technology allows users to scroll through web pages on the device without having the need to actually touch the display. Users can simply hover their finger close to the display and the device recognises the gestures and translates it into action.

The retail price of the Xperia Sola is Rs 22,999 but Infibeam is offering discounts worth Rs 3,000 thus making it available for Rs 19,999.

Xperia P

The Xperia P is the smaller cousin of the Sony Xperia S that was launched in the Indian market in the month of April. The Sony Xperia P is based on Google’s Android operating system and has a 4-inch scratch-resistant TFT touchscreen with a of 960×540 pixels. The phone comes powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor. The device comes preinstalled with Android 2.3 but Sony has plans to upgrade the device to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later.

The Sony Xperia P has an 8 camera with auto focus and flash and a VGA camera in the front to aid video calling and conferencing. The Xperia P comes with an internal storage of 16 out of which 13 GB worth of storage will be available for the user to store his data. Xperia P is priced at Rs 26,799.

Sony Xperia U

The Sony Xperia U features a 1 GHz and has access to Sony’s Entertainment Network that allows users to watch latest Hollywood blockbusters on Video Unlimited or listen to millions of songs through Music Unlimited.

The Xperia U has a 3.5 inch screen powered by Sony’s Bravia Engine technology for better display. The Xperia device will feature 3G, WiFi, and and connectivity options and is DLNA certified as well. Sharing the same design philosophy as the Xperia S, this new smartphone will also have a transparent bar just under the screen that enhances the visuals significantly. The Xperia U comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread but is upgradable to Android ICS. Xperia U is priced at Rs 17, 399.
