Sony has expanded its Bravia range of TVs in India with the introduction of the Bravia A8F series which includes a 55-inch Sony KD-55A8F and 65-inch Sony KD-65A8F, both of which were displayed at the CES 2018 back in January. Both Smart TVs come with 4K HDR displays powered by the X1 Extreme picture Processor and an Acoustic Surface sound technology for an immersive viewing experience. Sony starts retailing the entry-level KD-55A8F for an asking price of Rs 3,29,900.
As was showcased at the CES 2018, the Sony Bravia A8F features a TRILUMINOS Display which along with the integrated 4K X-Reality Pro imaging engine provides crisp details and accurate colours through the rich algorithm that recreates realistic details onto the content. On the inside, the A8F is powered by a 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme which renders 4K content with precise 4K bit mapping, HDR recasting and dual database processing.
This coupled with the OLED panel that lights up close to 9 million self-lighting pixels, makes room for an enriched visual treat that offers videos without noise and blue in an authentic lighting, significant colour range and a truly deep black. The TV’s backlight-less strategy allows it to make use of the saved space to generate sound by making the display vibrate, something conventional TVs don’t equip.
The Bravia A8F will be able to run Android TV version 7.0 with access to downloading apps through Google Play. There’s also support for Chromecast embedded onto the display allowing users the means to stream content right off their smartphones. The TV comes with a remote controller that has dedicated buttons for Netflix and Google Play, thus giving access to a massive virtual library of videos, music, movies, games.
Making use of the Acoustic Surface technology with an integrated subwoofer, the Bravia TV will be able to offer an immersive audio experience with a powerful bass across a large room. With an exceptionally wide viewing angle and wide sound, aural and visual experiences are the same no matter where you’re seated in a room. The A8F series will come with support for Dolby Vision which when coupled with HDR 10 and Hybrid Log-Gamma allows the unit to process standard signals at a higher brightness.
The Sony Bravia A8F is currently available in Sony Centers and major electronic outlets across India. While the 65-inch Sony KD-65A8F sells for a higher price of Rs 4,49,900, the base 55-inch Sony KD-55A8F model will be available for an asking price of Rs. 3,29,900.
