As per the latest stats count, Sony on Wednesday claimed that it has sold over 50 million PlayStation 4 units as of December 6, 2016. The company also confirmed that this figure doesn’t include the units sold to retailers and other distributors but the units sold directly to the consumers. Moreover, apart from the original PlayStation 4, this report also include the PS4 Slim and recently launched PS4 Pro, claims CNET.
The original PlayStation 4 was launched back in 2013 across the globe. In India, the console made its way in January 2014. The PS4 Slim was launched earlier this year in September while the PS4 Pro was just launched last month on November 10 in the United States.
Just to brief out the differences between these models, The PS4 Slim, as the name implies, is slimmer in overall design plus it is said to be more energy efficient. Further, the PS4 Pro comes with more power in hyper-realistic graphics, a powerful CPU clocked at a higher rate and 4K gaming. Unfortunately, both the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro haven’t entered the Indian market as of now. Although after the recent price drop of the original PS4, we suspected that Sony might launch at least the Slim variant by the year end.
Sony PlayStation has always been neck-to-neck with Microsoft’s Xbox, yet, the gaming console from Sony seems to have been done well in terms of sales especially in markets like India and UAE.
