Sony has announced its latest smartphone, Xperia ZR, under its Z series. It is similar in design to the Xperia Z but comes with a smaller 4.6 inch HD (720p) display compared to 5 inch full HD display of Xperia Z.
However in terms of camera and waterproofing Xperia ZR is at par with IP55/IP58 certification and 13 megapixel camera with a dedicated camera button with capability to shoot HD video underwater as well. The phone can kept under 1.50 metre of freshwater for up to 30 minutes.
Xperia ZR also uses the same quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU clocked at 1.5GHz as in Xperia ZR but gets 1GB RAM instead of 2GB.
Other features of the device include NFC, a 2,300 mAh battery, the Adreno 320 GPU and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system.
There is no pricing or availability details available as of now, but Sony India website claims the phone is coming soon.
