Simmtronics, an Indian tablet manufacturer, has launched a new 10.1 inch display based tablet for Rs 8,499, which happens to be the cheapest 10 inch tablet currently available in India from a known brand. Named Simmtronics XPad X1010, it is based on Android 4.0 ICS operating system.
It features a 10.1 inch display with 5 point touch and a healthy 1024 x 600 Pixel resolution. For a smoother performance, the tablet has a 1.2 GHz Cortex-A8, dual core Mali 400 graphics processor and 1 GB RAM.
XPad X1010 has 8 GB of internal memory and supports up to 32 GB of expandable memory. The tablet also comes with a VGA camera in the front for video chat but doesn’t have a rear camera.
Simmtronics has put a 5600 mAh Lithium polymer battery with claimed 150 hours of back up and six hours of internet browsing time. For connectivity, the tablet also offers WiFi and HDMi and support 3G via dongle. XPad X1010 weighs 610 grams and is 10.5mm thick which is good.
Simmtronics manufactures its tablets in India and has so far launched two tablets before this one. The first one – Xpad X720 – is a 7 inch tablet with only WiFi connectivity and is available for Rs 3,999. The other one is the 8 inch display bearing Xpad X801 which comes with a free detachable keyboard and costs Rs 8,499.
All the three tablets from Simmtronics are eligible for free WiFi access in over 5000 WiFi hotspots in stores like McDonald, Subway, Café Coffee Day, Manchester United, Nirulas, Cocoberry etc.
The XPad X1010 competes with the likes of Micromax Funbook Pro which is available for Rs 9,999 and has the same specification this new Simmtronics tablet. Other players like Zync and Spice are also present in the segment but are slightly costlier. Simmtronics XPad X1010 seems to be the lowest cost tablet in the 1 inch category.
