Sharp has today announced the launch of its new bezel-less smartphone, the Aquos S2 in China. The smartphone is available for pre-order from JD.com and it will go on sale from August 14 in the country. The phone comes in two variants and the Snapdragon 630 option comes with a price tag of 2,499 Yuan (approx. Rs 24000), while the Snapdragon 660 variant is priced at 3499 Yuan (approx. Rs 34,000).
The major highlight of the smartphone is the bezel-less display, which no almost negligible side bezels and almost no bezels on the top. However, there are some noticeable bezels at the bottom of the display. The device uses FFD (Free Form Display) technology to dig small holes precisely in the screen for front camera and receiver. This also allows a screen-to-body ratio as high as 84.95 percent.
The phone is crafted from a metal and glass body, which gives a premium look. Further, the phone comes with a 3.6mm thick fingerprint sensor, placed at the bottom of the display, which makes it world’s narrowest fingerprint module.
Jumping straight to the specifications, the smartphone features a 5.5-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2040 pixels and 55 nits brightness along with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The Aquos S2 comes in two variants: the affordable one is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 Processor clocked at 2.2GHz along with Adreno 508 GPU. The variant is backed by a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
Then there is a high-end variant, which is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor along with Adreno 512 GPU. The variant comes loaded with a 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage option. In both the variants, the storage is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

Moving forward, the phone comes loaded with dual rear cameras, which comes with a combination f 12-megapixel sensor with Aperture f/1.75, 1.4-micron pixel size and 8-megapixel f/2.0 aperture, 1.4-micron pixel size. The primary camera comes with an RGB unit, while the secondary camera is used for depth sensing. For the front, there is an 8-megapixel shooter for selfie and video calling.
The Sharp Aquos S2 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with Smile UX running on top of it and it is juiced up by a 3020mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging. On the connectivity front, the device supports, 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS, USB Type-C port and dual-SIM. The device measures 141.8 x 72.04 x 7.9mm and weighs 140 grams.
