Samsung has finally introduced the Tizen mobile platform based smartphone – Samsung Z. It has a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED Display and runs on Tizen 2.2.1 operating system. The quad-core powered Samsung Z will be first introduced in Russia and later will be made available in other markets. Samsung has not shared the price or specific release timeline.
The Mobile Indian reported reported about the mystery around the Samsung’s development of the Tizen platform last year. However, as anticipated, Samsung has formally announced the Tizen mobile platform running smartphone – Samsung Z. Sporting a mix of the usual Samsung mobiles design, the Samsung Z offers a rectangular monoblock look.
Featuring faux-leather back panel and curved edges, the Samsung Z offers 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen display with 1280×720 pixel resolution. Samsung has powered this smartphone with a quad-core 2.3 Ghz mobile processor but has not revealed the maker. This mobile chipset is coupled with 2 GB RAM. Samsung boasts delivering fast performance with this combination through improved memory management. By default, the Samsung Z offers 16 GB on-board storage with a memory slot to hold up to 64 GB microSD card.
For faster mobile web browsing experience, Samsung has armed it with dual-band WiFi chip and it also offers 4G LTE network support but Samsung hasn’t clarified the Frequency bands. It has a modest 8 Megapixel camera and an LED flash in the rear panel while in the front lies a 2 megapixel camera for video calls.
Samsung has introduced Dynamic Box and Color Theme settings to customize the look and feel of the Tizen user interface. Apart from that, Samsung has also implemented the features of the Galaxy S5 in the Samsung Z. For instance, there is the Download Booster promises faster downloads.
Just like the Galaxy S5, the Samsung Z is loaded with sensors such as Fingerprint Sensor and Heart Rate Sensor at the rear. The S Health 3.0 App is usable best with these sensors. Other significant features include Near Field Communication support, IR Remote, USB 2.0 port, GPS with GLONASS,Barometer, Hall, Proximity, Gyroscope, and accelerometer.
Measuring 8.5 mm thick, the Samsung Z claimed to be 136 grams light. Samsung has packed 2600 mAh battery to offer it a decent run time. The Ultra Power Saving mode promises longer run time.
