Samsung has announced Galaxy Tab 7.7 tablet featuring a 7.7 inch screen and adds new screen size to the tablet world. With this Samsung has 7.0, 7.7, 8.9, 10 inch screen sizes for its tablets.

Samsung has added two more tablets to its portfolio with the announcement of Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus and Galaxy Tab 7.7 inch. While the 7.0 Plus is expected to replace the Galaxy Tab 7, Galaxy Tab 7.7 will be the fourth tablet in the entire portfolio of Samsung.

Currently Samsung sells 7.0, 8.9, and 10 inch tablets. Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus will hit the markets by end of October in countries like Austria and Thailand and in Italy by mid November.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus features 3.2, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 7 inch (1024 x 600) PLS LCD, 1 RAM, 16/32 GB of built-in storage, a micro SD card slot, a 3 megapixel rear-facing camera with flash, a front facing 2 megapixel camera, and 4,000 battery. Since it is an upgrade to the current Tab 7.0, it is expected to be priced slightly higher than the outgoing model.

The other tablet announced by Samsung is the Galaxy Tab 7.7. As the name suggests, it has a 7.7 inch (1280 x 800) Plus display panel. It runs Android 3.2 with Samsung’s tablet-optimised TouchWiz UX layered on top.

Inside, it runs the same Samsung-made dual-core 1.4 GHz processor found in the new Galaxy Note along with an radio promising theoretical download speeds as high as 21 Mbps.

The tablet is light weight at 335-gram, and has 16 GB to 64 GB of internal storage variants, a micro SD card slot, a 5,100 mAh battery rated for 10 hours, 802.11n WiFi, GPS, 3.0 and 3 megapixel back camera and a 2 megapixel front facing camera.

Though it is difficult to speculate the price of this tablet, it should be slotted somewhere in between the 7.0 plus and 8.9 inch version, which should be close Rs 30,000. No launch date is available as Samsung spokesperson remained unavailable through out the day, however we expect it to be launched during Christmas (end of December this year) as the current festive season will be over very soon and so only apt time will be December.

Some critics say that such a wide range will confuse people about the size that they should buy, driving them to the arch rival Apple iPad.
