Mobile phone manufacturer, Samsung has rolled out a new operating system update for its Galaxy Ace S5830 smartphone in India. With this, the smartphone will be upgraded to Android 2.3.6.
Available for Rs 13,900, Galaxy Ace S5830 is one of the best-selling handsets of Samsung. It comes with a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen with 800 MHz processor, 280 MB RAM, and 32 GB of expandable memory slot. The 3G phone has a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 1350 mAh battery as well.
Besides, the bar designed Galaxy Ace S5830 has usual features like WiFi, Bluetooth, USB slot, 3.5 mm jack, FM radio, A-GPS navigation, Digital Compass and location based services with access to Google applications like Google Maps. The smartphone offers one swipe access to social networking streams including Facebook, Myspace and Twitter.
Reportedly, the update is available via Samsung’s dedicated software – Kies. The update will be rolled out to customers in India a gradual manner. It is expected to bring some bug fixes, though nothing has officially been said by Samsung.
Notably, as The Mobile Indian has also reported, the Android 2.3.6 update has already been rolled out for Samsung Galaxy SII in November last year.

Samsung some days back also launched an upgraded version of the Galaxy Ace in Russia. The new Galaxy Ace Plus will be also available in India by March this year. The Galaxy Ace Plus will have better hardware and software such as the 1 Ghz processor which will make it eligible for Android 4.0 upgrade. The current Galaxy Ace smartphones come with 800 Mhz processor and hence cannot accommodate the new generation Android 4.0 operating system.
The smartphone maker, however, had earlier assured Android 4.0 update for its Galaxy Note, Galaxy R and the Galaxy S Plus by March this year. To read the story, click here.

The Android operating system has been developed by internet giant Google. Starting with Cupcake, Android has several versions such as the Donut (1.6), Éclair (2.1), Froyo (2.2), Gingerbread (2.3), Honeycomb (3.0) and the latest Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0).
Each Android version has also several updates. Like Android Gingerbread has updates like 2.3.2, 2.3.5 and now 2.3.6. Handsets manufacturers usually issue these updates with little bit of tweak to suit their handsets.
