Samung is reportedly planning to dump the 3.5 mm jack as is done by Apple and LeEco recently.
As per reports, Samsung is planning to include a Proprietary port instead. Moreover, Samsung will also license it. Reports also suggest that Samsung will design the port for better sound quality but keeping in mind all the Android manufacturers. So the new port won’t be much of a problem for Android manufacturers as they would get the license for free.
Apple’s decided to remove the 3.5mm Audio Jack in its latest iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Apple claims that it saves space and also lightning port will offer better sound quality.
The move received mixed reviews; while some liking the sound output of the new lightning port, others termed it unnecessary.
Before Apple, companies like LeEco and Motorola also removed the audio jack from its selected handsets for similar reasons and sent in headsets which would connect via USB Type-C port
But if you are one of those who would own both Apple and Android devices in future then this might force you to use not so appealing adapters. Well, it’s true that the 3.5mm Headphone port does take a lot of space and has been there in the smartphone industry since the beginning but removing it all of a sudden would only create problems. Whereas, there is still time until we use wireless earphones on daily basis.
