A new bug is causing users of Samsung’s Messages App plenty of problems. The bug is basically sending their entire photo galleries to a random contact and the worst part is that the whole process does not leave a trace.
Multiple users took it to Reddit (via Android Police) to share this weird issue. S9s have been sporadically sending the entire contents of one’s gallery to a contact via SMS, and it doesn’t show up on your side. Might be worth checking logs on your carrier’s site, because it happened on my T-Mobile Note 8,” explains one user on Reddit.
“Last night around 2:30 a.m., my phone sent [my girlfriend] my entire photo gallery over text but there was no record of it on my messages app. However, there was a record of it on T-Mobile logs,” writes a Galaxy S9 user in another post.
Users are complaining that Messages app is sending photos to random people and the sender cannot trace whether the photos are sent to other users or not. Although the majority of the users complaining about the issue are Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 8, the problem is likely to be present in other Samsung devices as well.
The only workaround here is to disable storage permissions for Samsung Messages. In order to do so, users can go to Settings > Apps > Samsung Messages > Permissions > Storage.
