Samsung is working on a Bixby-enabled smart speaker: Report

The smart speaker is codenamed as Vega and is under work from past one year.

Samsung is reportedly working on a smart speaker that will feature its own voice assistant Bixby. Currently, this speaker is codenamed as Vega and is under work from past one year. To, refresh your mind Bixby is Samsung’s own assistant, which was launched alongside the Samsung’s flagship S8 to take on other AI’s such as Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the development of the Bixby speaker has been delayed as the brand is currently working to roll out its voice assistant. The report further adds that the rollout of its virtual assistant is “unlikely before the second half of July” as Samsung has already started the early testing with a bunch of Samsung S8 users.
For the unintended, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ ship with the company’s own Bixby personal assistant, the voice command functionality will be added only by the end of this year. Bixby, which is essentially Samsung’s version of Google Assistant which in itself is a pretty solid personal assistant. Keeping the voice command feature at the side, for the time being, Bixby will be there on the left of your home screen where it will pull up cards related to what it thinks might interest you.
In other words, taking the help of its built-in machine learning, Bixby will show up cards which are relevant for you. Further, Bixby will also be there inside the camera for you to identify various things, places and also buy some of the stuff from Amazon. Samsung is relying so much on its personal assistant that it has given a dedicated button on the side.
If this comes out to be true, the market will be buzzed with Smart Speakers as a majority of the tech giants have come up with a smart speaker that features their own assistants. Google has Google Home with Assistant, Amazon has a strong lineup Eco speakers with Alexa, Apple recently took the wraps off from HomePod which will feature Siri and Microsoft’s Invoke comes Cortana.
