Samsung has formally announced two new budget smartphones with Android 4.4 KitKat loaded – Galaxy Young 2 and Galaxy Star 2. Both smartphones feature 3.5-inch touchscreen display and are powered by single core mobile processor. Both budget smartphones will run the TouchWiz Essense user interface with Android 4.4 KitKat running under it. Samsung has not announced the price and availability of the handsets.
Samsung Galaxy Young 2 is the direct successor of last year’s Galaxy Young. Meanwhile the Galaxy Star 2 smartphone succeeds the Galaxy Star. Both smartphones are powered by single core 1 Ghz mobile processor and paired with 512 MB RAM. Both phones offer 4 GB on-board storage and memory card slot to accommodate up to 32 GB micro SD card.
The Galaxy Young 2 offers a 3 Megapixel camera at the back and supports Dual SIM configuration. It measures 11.8 mm thick and weighs 108 grams. The Galaxy Star 2 offers 2 megapixel camera at the back and measures the same 11.8 mm thick.
Basic difference between the Galaxy Young 2 and Galaxy Star 2 is that only the Young 2 supports 3G network SIM. Similarly only Young 2 offers GPS with GLONASS support. Both smartphones pack 1300 mAh battery and offer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 support.
