Samsung Galaxy Watch launched in India, starts at Rs 24,990

The Galaxy Watch features a circular, rotating dial that has been present in previous generation Samsung wearables and offers an Always-On Display. The new smartwatch from Samsung comes in two version: 46mm and 42mm options. The former is available in silver, while the latter comes in black and rose gold variants.

Samsung India has announced the Galaxy Watch in India, its latest wearable which is available in two variants – 42mm and 46mm dial sizes. The device comes to India a month after having been unveiled at New York alongside the Galaxy Note 9 which is already available for purchase in the country. The Galaxy Watch by Samsung is currently available in India for a starting price of Rs 24,990.

The Galaxy Watch features a circular, rotating dial that has been present in previous generation Samsung wearables and offers an Always-On Display. The new smartwatch from Samsung comes in two version: 46mm and 42mm options. The former is available in silver colour options, while the latter comes in black and rose gold colour variants.

The 46mm version features a 1.3-inch Circular Always-On display with Corning Gorilla DX+, while the 42mm models come with a 1.2-inch screen., both of them featuring a of 360 x 360 pixels. Furthermore, the larger model features 22mm-sized interchangeable straps whereas the 42mm features 20mm interchangeable straps.

Both Galaxy Watches are certified with MIL-STD-810G military standard and is water resistant to up to 5 ATM with the ability to withstand harsh climates. Both the models are powered by company’s in-house Exynos 9110 dual-core clocked at 1.15GHz. The Galaxy Watch is backed by 768MB and 4GB of internal storage with a 472mAh battery on the 46mm model and 270mAh power unit on the 42mm version.

Samsung has focused on health as well. The watch comes with a new stress management tracker, which detects high levels of stress and offer breathing exercises to its users. Then there is a sleep tracker that can monitor all level of sleep including REM cycles. The watch also comes with 21 new indoor exercises.

While the Galaxy Watch initially came with LTE connectivity during its launch, the device in India will only feature 4.2, Wi-Fi b/g/n, NFC and A-GPS/GLONASS for connectivity. The Watch is powered by Samsung’s Tizen OS 4.0 and can be paired with any device running on 5.0 or higher and 9.0 or later.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch is available in India at Rs 24,990 and Rs 29,990 for the 42mm and 46mm variants respectively and will be available for purchase through authorised retailers in the country in October.
