While Samsung fans in India still await the launch of the Galaxy 10.1 tab, Amazon in UK has started prebooking for the revolutionary 8.9 inch tablet. The delivery date for the Tab 8.9 is expected to start from 11th of this month.
Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in India soon but as of now there is no official confirmation on when that will take place. As far as the Galaxy Tab 8.9 is concerned, Samsung has plans to launch the device but there is no confirmation yet on the same.
With the UK availability of Galaxy Tab 8.9, it is somewhat of a relief for the fans here in India as post 11th they will be able to order the 8.9 inch tablet through various third party vendors like ‘Shop Your World’ and ‘20 North’ who can get international products delivered to people living in India.
To get the Tab 8.9 before the official launch in India, users will have to pay Rs 47,000 for the 32 GB version. More details will be revealed ones the product starts shipping after its scheduled delivery date.
The Samsung Tab 8.9 features a smaller 8.9 inch display, a 1 GHz Tegra 2 Processor and Android Honeycomb operating system. With the roll out of Honeycomb 3.2 update, it is highly expected that the UK version of the Tab 8.9 might ship with 3.2 even if not the update can be expected real soon after the delivery date.
The above mentioned price is for the 3G plus WiFi version of the Galaxy Tab 8.9. The plans for the launch of a WiFi only version of the same tablet are not clear as of now but considering the variant availability of the Tab 10.1, the WiFi only version for the Tab 8.9 can also be expected soon with a lower price tag.
