Samsung Galaxy S8 to have Dual-Camera set up, Iris scanner: Rumours

The S8 will come with a 12 megapixel camera which will be same as the current model (Galaxy S7), and a 13 megapixel camera which is reportedly from Sony.

Samsung is months away from launching its new S series flagship, which is expected to be named as Galaxy S8. But rumours are now coming from various quarters and as per latest reports, the phone is expected to come with dual rear camera set up.

As per report, one of the camera will be of 12 resolution while the other will be a 13 megapixel unit which will come with Sony sensor. Dual-camera set up provides better depth of field and detail. The first phone to feature the Dual-camera set up was the HTC One M8 back in 2014, but that was merely a secondary camera to give the real-time bokeh effect. Recently we saw the likes of Huawei P9 and LG G5 with the dual-camera set up. The dual camera set-up we are seeing these days have two equally powerful sensors.

Moreover, reports claim that the S8 will sport an 8 megapixel camera with the recently introduced Iris-scanner making it the first phone to have it in the S series. This year Samsung introduced the variant even to the S series with the Galaxy S7 Edge. We will have to wait and see if Samsung introduces this dual camera set up in both the variants or not.

Meanwhile, Samsung smartphones are known for their exceptional camera quality. With the addition of a dual-camera set up, it will be interesting to see the results. But, don’t get excited just yet because the S8 launch is nowhere near and the South Korean giant is expected to launch it in March-April 2017.
