Samsung Galaxy S8 is Impressive but has goofed up in some areas

Samsung Galaxy S8 is probably the most beautiful smartphone till today with a slight (curved) edge over Xiaomi’s Mi Mix, but even the phone with such design, specifications and price, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is almost the perfect smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ have officially entered the Indian market. The Galaxy S8 is priced at Rs 57,900 and the Galaxy S8+ is priced at Rs 64,900. Both the devices will be available starting May 5th via Flipkart and Samsung Shop while the pre-orders begin today. Now, Samsung Galaxy S8 is probably the most beautiful smartphone till today with a slight (curved) over Xiaomi’s Mi Mix, but even the phone with such design, specifications and price, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is almost the perfect smartphone. While a lot of people might disagree but here is why Samsung Galaxy S8 is not the perfect smartphone.

Fingerprint Scanner
Samsung Galaxy S8, as we all know, comes with a 5.8-inch Quad Infinity Display which is fitted in a fairly small shell when we compare devices with similar screen size but for that Samsung had to move the fingerprint scanner at the back. The problem is not with the location but the placement of the fingerprint scanner which sits right beside the camera module at the back. Although it looks like a last-minute gamble, it would have been much better if Samsung could just place it beneath and not on the side of the camera module.

No Bixby Voice
Soon after the launch of both the Galaxy S8 and S8+, Samsung announced that Bixby Voice will not ship with the devices until the end of this year which means you will not be able to throw on to your S8 or S8+ expecting a response in return. However, Bixby will still be there as a page on the home screen and in the camera viewfinder to let you grab information which is relevant for you.

Speaker
Having a speaker grill at the bottom on a smartphone is still not the best option, in our opinion. Now you might wonder that Samsung didn’t have enough place at the front to put those audio drivers and speaker grills but the quality of audio output from that single bottom firing speaker is not that impressive as well. Samsung could have taken this from Apple where a single speaker on an iPhone always sounds much better than any other smartphone barring some exceptions.

Battery
Now we understand, Samsung came from an abyss pertaining to the Galaxy Note 7 but the battery on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ is nothing to get wowed about. It surprising how far we have come where now even 3500 battery is not enough to power the device for a full day of usage. In other words, you will have a hard time getting through a day’s power backup from the Galaxy S8 while the situation might be better on the Galaxy S8+.

No Major Camera Upgrade
If you are super impressed by the Galaxy S8’s design and all the other specifications you should know that Samsung has gone with the same 12-megapixel sensor at the back with f/1.7 aperture, PDAF, Optical Image Stabilization along with an flash. Whereas the front camera has surely seen an upgrade from a 5-megapixel sensor to an 8-megapixel sensor in the Galaxy S8. Samsung claims that it has improved on image processing but that is just not enough for you to upgrade from your Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge if camera is your priority.

However, even after these potential cons, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is still the best Android smartphone right now. So if the above-mentioned points don’t bother you, the Galaxy S8 is probably the device you have been waiting for.
