Finally, Samsung has now launched its Galaxy S8 and S8+ flagship smartphones in India. The Galaxy S8 is priced at Rs 57,900 while the big brother i.e. the S8+ is priced at Rs 64,900. The pre-orders for both the devices will begin today on Flipkart and Samsung’s official website where the company is also giving away a wireless charger with all the pre-orders. Apart from this, Samsung has also partnered with Reliance Jio to roll out ‘Double Data Offer’ for a monthly recharge of Rs 309 where users will 56GB of 4G data along with free calls and SMS per month which makes it 448GB for 8 months. Both the devices will ship starting 5th May 2017. While the Galaxy S8 will come inMidnight Black and Maple Gold colour variants, the Galaxy S8+ will also get the Coral Blue variant.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ Specifications
Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8-inch Quad HD (2960 x 1440 pixels) Infinity display which is curved on both sides while the Galaxy S8+ comes with a 6.2-inch Quad-HD display. Both the handsets boast a strange display aspect ratio of 18:9. The Indian variant of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ is likely to come with Exynos 8895 Chipset which is an Octa-Core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. This is because Samsung sells the Qualcomm variant of its flagship in select regions only. Apart from this, the device packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.
On the camera front, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are equipped with a 12-megapixel rear camera with Dual Pixel technology and Aperture f/1.7 and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with smart Autofocus and aperture f/1.7.MP F1.7 Smart autofocus front camera.
Both of them runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat and the smaller sibling is powered by a 3000mAh battery, while the Plus model boasts 3500mAh battery with fast charging on wired and wireless. On the connectivity front, both the devices support Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, USB Type-C, GPS, GLONASS and 4G LTE. The Samsung Galaxy S8 measures 148.9 x 68.1 x 8.0 mm and weighs 155g, while the Galaxy S8+ measures 159.5 x 73.4 x 8.1 mm and 173g.
Apart from the key specifications, readers should note that even though the Galaxy S8 and S8+ will ship with the company’s own Bixby personal assistant, the Voice commands functionality will be added only by the end of this year. Bixby, which is essentially Samsung’s version of Google Assistant which in itself is a pretty solid personal assistant. Keeping the voice command feature at the side, for the time being, Bixby will be there on the left of your home screenwhere it will pull up cards related to what it thinks might interest you. In other words, taking the help of its built-in machine learning, Bixby will show up cards which are relevant for you. Further, Bixby will also be there inside the camera for you to identify various things, places and also buy some of the stuff from Amazon. Samsung is relying so much on its personal assistant that it has given a dedicated button on the side.
