With so many handset players announcing Android Nougat update, latest version of Android operating system, for their flagship smartphones, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 EDGE users were wondering when they will get it. We don’t have a date yet but if a post on XDA is to be believed. It is going to happen soon. Also, the expected update will be directly for the latest Android 7.1.1 version instead of Android 7.0.
Samsung has confirmed the news to a tester, who posted a screenshot on the XDA forum, that it will be updating both the flagship devices to Android 7.1.1 Nougat instead of first updating them to version 7.0.
In the past, we have Samsung has been late with issuing Android updates because all their smartphones come with a Proprietary user interface (UI) and the changes have to be made at the UI level before any update can be rolled out. We hope this time round, history is not repeated and updates are issued promptly for S7 and S7 Edge.
Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Beta Program, which allowed users to test the Android 7.0 Nougat on their devices. In order to subscribe to this program, one has to sign up via Galaxy Beta Program App or Samsung members app available on Galaxy App store and Google Play Store respectively.
The latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat update brings a host new features like send GIFs directly from their keyboard and app shortcuts.Through this feature, users can easily access their favourite apps from the by simply long pressing the app icon.
